As the clock ticks on a potential peace deal, President Donald Trump has warned Ukraine to “move quickly.” Trump stated on Thursday that Russia might change its mind if talks are prolonged. The warning comes ahead of a meeting in Miami between US and Russian officials.

Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will represent the US in the talks with the Russian delegation. This follows earlier discussions in Berlin with Ukrainian officials. The administration is pushing for a rapid conclusion to the conflict.

Trump was clear about the risks of delay. “I hope Ukraine moves quickly,” he said, noting that “Russia changes their mind” when talks drag on. His comments suggest that the window for a deal may be closing.

However, the territorial dispute remains a major stumbling block. Ukraine refuses to cede land, while Russia demands concessions. The refusal of either side to budge on this issue makes a quick resolution difficult.

Russia currently occupies Crimea and parts of four other regions. Moscow demands a Ukrainian withdrawal from the Donbas as a condition for peace. With Russian negotiators showing little willingness to compromise, Trump’s call for speed adds to the pressure on Ukraine.
