Finnish President Alexander Stubb has embarked on a two-day state visit to Luxembourg, focusing on enhancing bilateral relations and discussing European issues. The visit commenced with a formal welcome ceremony featuring military honors at the Grand Ducal Palace on Tuesday, where President Stubb and his wife were received by the Luxembourg Grand Ducal couple. As part of the ceremony, the Finnish presidential couple paid tribute to fallen service members by laying a wreath at the eternal flame.
Throughout the visit, President Stubb is scheduled to engage in discussions with key Luxembourg officials, including President of the Chamber of Deputies Claude Wiseler, Prime Minister Luc Frieden, and Deputy Prime Minister Xavier Bettel. These discussions will primarily revolve around strengthening ties between the two countries and addressing current European affairs.
The itinerary also includes significant engagements with European institutions. President Stubb will visit the European Investment Bank and the European Court of Justice, underscoring the collaborative efforts between Finland and Luxembourg within the European framework.
On Wednesday, the Finnish President plans to visit the University of Luxembourg’s Belval campus and the SES headquarters in Betzdorf. These visits aim to spotlight academic exchanges and economic partnerships, further enhancing the cooperative spirit between Finland and Luxembourg.
